Uganda Police Warns Bobi Wine Against Politics In his Kyarenga Concert

(Annews24) Kampala- Uganda Police has issued a warning to Kyadondo East legislator cum singer Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine against politicizing his Kyarenga show scheduled for today at his Busaabala beach.

The pop star Bobi Wine  was twice frustrated by police, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and management of Mandela National Stadium- Namboole after announcing he would  stage his concert at Namboole but later  decided  to change the venue to his One Love beach in Busaabala.

In a statement released on Friday afternoon, police said they had been holding meetings with the organisers of the event and agreed of a number of issues and guidelines to be followed during the concert.

“The purpose of the concert is to launch the music album and for entertainment only and not a political gathering. This event therefore shall be held only in the manner consistent with the purpose,” said the statement by the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire.

According to the statement from police, there shall be no processions to and from the concert venue.

The place has been known for drug abuse and sex orgies during concerts but police banned them and any other acts considered immoral and unacceptable by the culture and laws of Uganda.

“The police should have unlimited access to the venue and all facilities used at any time of the day or night. The organisers should ensure that the lighting at the venue shall be sufficient enough to cover the place.”

The organisers of the concert have been urged to ensure shores of the lake are barricaded to avoid drowning by revelers at the concert.

“In the event of breach of contract of any or a combination of the above conditions, government reserves the right to call off the event without notice,” said Owoyesigyire..nileposst
